Currently wrangling data for ingestion to new cloud based DataStack and delighting business users with Power BI reports that not only improve work allocation but also improved team morale. The automation and streamlining of an HR Workforce Analysis report led to a 93.75% reduction in resource effort. The Customer Insights & Ops report highlighted broken business processes and brought data from disparate source systems together to increase visibility of team workload. Set up and run the Power BI Community of Practice to increase visibility and use of Power BI amongst staff.

As an Assistant Release Officer working in Workforce Management Solutions and Operations, Payroll Portfolio my duties included assisting in the coordination of timely release planning activities to enable business requirements identified by Queensland Health to be analysed, assessed for impact including integration impacts, designed, developed, tested and implemented into production within established frameworks, strategies, standards, methodologies and policies. I co-ordinated and consolidated release management reports and evaluated progress, risks and issues and reported on these items appropriately to management. From February 2008 until July 2009 worked on several projects impacting the Bills Trading system which is a Treasury system processing negotiable discounted Securities. From July 2009 until March 2010 was assigned to several projects in International Capture systems.
Prior to this worked in the Technology Banking Australia, Commercial Customer Accounts (CASB application) team on a variety of projects making code changes to existing IMS COBOL and DB2 programs.

Under a restructure transferred to the Customer Relationship Management team in the Telstra Consumer & Marketing area. Additional duties included producing regular and adhoc outbound marketing campaign lists.
In Oct 2004 became a permanent employee as a Senior Data Analyst in the Data & Analytics Team to deliver quality data, reports and customer insights in a timely manner to support Telstra Consumer & Marketing and other business units.
Under a re-structure in late 2005 transferred to Analytical CRM as a Snr Solutions Specialist. Provide input into the Business Information Strategy document in regards to in the transformation of the DW into an Enterprise Data Warehouse.

I also supported the live Mortgage system (a system inherited from Bradford & Bingley Building Society (see below)) by performing analysis, development, testing, and implementing changes.

The system went live in November 2000 and from that time I worked on supporting the system by investigating any problems raised by the users in the branches and developing enhancements.

Commenced in 1998 an Analyst/Programmer on a Mortgage system dealing mainly with changes to the processing of Further Advances to a Main Mortgage.
Returned as a permanent employee in December 1999 as a Lead Technician on the Customer Relationship Management team. Duties include analysis of existing (VSAM) investment and (DB2) lending systems with respect to the changes required for the new system (database and platform, at that time, to be determined.

Commenced as an Analyst on the Offshore Projects team. The team was responsible for the development of work estimated to be less than 1000 hours and intended to be sent offshore to be constructed in India. After 3.5 months took over the responsibilities as Lead Analyst.

Commenced as an Analyst investigating the impact of Year 2000 on various Retail Applications.
I then worked on a detailed impact analysis of eight Retail Applications systems that used a database that was to be demised in phases from the third quarter of 1998 through to the end of 1999. Impacted programs were found by interrogating system catalogue tables. The programs were then investigated to determine where information would be sourced from and when during the migration from the existing system the changes needed to be made.

Commenced back with the FLEXCAB project as a Change Request Lead on a Release Delivery team liaising with technical, functional and business areas of the project. I supervised 5 Analyst/Programmers.
At the beginning of 1997 assumed the overall lead development responsibilities as the Lead Analyst for the implementation of the Change Request.
In June 1997 became a Change Request Owner managing several Change Requests providing one point of contact for technical, functional and business people for the resolution of issues.

In 2009 I completed an Advanced Diploma in Photography from Photography Studies College in Melbourne. I majored in Commercial Photography with an interest in underwater photography. At the 2010 APPAs I gained a Silver Award for this image of divers’ bubbles at The Chasm in Piccaninnie Ponds in Mt Gambier, South Australia:
Scuba Diving
I’m an SSI Dive Con and PADI Assistant Instructor. My favourite dive destinations: Galapagos Islands, SS President Coolidge, and the Coral Sea.
Puzzles
I love puzzles especially cryptic crosswords, Sudoku, jigsaws, and apps such as Solitaire, Words With Friends, and Spider.
Travelling
In 1992 I spent 4 months travelling overland from London to Kathmandu and then went white water rafting on the Sun Kosi river in Nepal. In 1995/6 I spent 6 months travelling around South America and was fortunate to dive in the Galapagos Islands and in waters around Tobago.
Whisky
I enjoy a wee dram or two of Scotch whisky, in particular, ones from Speyside.
Reading
For some escapism, I enjoy reading sci-fantasy (Robert Jordan, Katherine Kerr, Sara Douglass, Stephen Lawhead). I get totally immersed in them. I also enjoy personal development books. I seem to spend a lot of my time googling for my studies.
Cooking
I am willing to try my hand at any type of cuisine (although I have to admit my first two attempts at making my own pasta were not a success). I love cake decorating and creating a cake to match the person’s interests. Some of my cakes can be viewed in my gallery below.
